Yiming Chen

Yiming Chen interest in playing the Guzheng was sparked when she was four, by a neighbor who had bought the instrument. Ever since then, she has continued in my journey of playing the Guzheng. Until now, it is a total of eleven years! When she was four, she started learning at a Guzheng school in Beijing. She had reached level seven at the age of eight when her family moved to Washington, DC. Seeking to continue playing, she brought along her instrument. Fortunately, and to her surprise, she found Ms. Gu! Under her guidance, she was able to progress in the art of playing the Guzheng. She then got the opportunity to participate in various performances and competitions. Some of the awards she has won are 2nd place in the 12-14 division of the Princeton International Music Competition, and 1st place in the 13-18 division of the Cultural for Peace Talent Show in Support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—2030. Playing the Guzheng has set the foundation of all her artistic endeavors. Her hobbies now include oil painting, playing the Hulusi, the ukulele, and the guitar. Guzheng will be her life-long companion, and she am forever grateful for meeting this instrument as well the people that have helped her on the way!
